John 9
Jesus Heals a Blind Man
Jesus and His disciples were walking along when they came across a man who had be blind from birth. Now the common belief back them was that he was blind because of some sin of his own or some sin of the parents. But Jesus tells them that he was born blind so that the power of God could be seen in him. It’s easy to sit back and ask God “why me?” instead of asking God for strength and clarity. We cannot deal with everything alone we should instead turn to God because only He has the power help us through these things. And so Jesus bent down, made some mud out of dirt and some of His spit, put it on the blind mans eyes and told him to go wand wash it off in the pool of Siloam. The man does this and through another of Jesus’ miracles, the man can now see. After this happens he is immediately brought before the Jewish leaders and asked all sorts of questions about Jesus. More like interrogated. He hears the same questions over and over again until the Jewish leaders cursed him and threw him out.
Key verse: The they cursed him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.”
This whole event right there parallels what can go on in a lot of our Christian lives. We can get questioned, cursed, mocked, persecuted. We may lose friends or at the very most, we may even lose our lives because we are disciples of Christ. But we must keep in mind that through all of that, they can never take the gift Jesus gives us, and that is eternal life.
My Prayer: Lord, Reading about this man really is inspiring. This man was cursed by the Jewish leaders, bore their intense scrutiny and yet he never backed down or shied away from his devotion to You. I pray that You can give me the same strength, and determination to do the same when it happens in my life. Amen.
